Release focus and be *more* creative? Plus… the first weekly ellipses 👀 🎉

Ellipses.

The special character writers use to help you slow down, take a real pause, and indicate thinking.

The Hello Brio newsletter is going from monthly to weekly, so it’s also going to be punchier and shorter. Because we all know we don’t have time for dozens of weekly long-ass emails in our inbox.

⚫️ Lack of focus = more creativity 📌

When you’re stressed, excited, or anxious, your field of vision shrinks and your eyes literally focus more, and you get tunnel vision. This hyper-focused soda-straw phenomenon gives you “attention blinks,” causing you to miss important things.

On the flip side, when you activate your parasympathetic nervous system through meditation or deep breathing, you become more aware of your surroundings because of pupil dilation.

According to research presented by Dr. Andrew Huberman… with just one 17-minute meditation, you can tap into a wider sense of being, thus allowing you to make more unique creative connections.

⚫️ Try interstitial journaling with me 📔

Via my friend Ely and with more info from the wonderful Anne-Laure, I’m giving interstitial journaling a try. Here’s how:

  • Keep a running time log of what you’re doing and how you feel.

  • Make it simple and short; any text document is fine.

  • As you come up with tasks for yourself, hit CMD+Shift+L in Apple Notes to bring up a task bubble.

Whatcha think of this format? Yay or nay? Let me know by hitting reply or tweeting me @HeyJennyLee.
