Ellipses, Nov 11… Big rocks, spatial intentions, + Notion fails

Ellipses… the small yet special character writers use to help you slow down, take a real pause, and indicate thinking.

⚫️ 1 tip: For productivity, put the big rocks first 📌

Have you heard this metaphor? Your day is a jar. You have to put the big rocks in first and then fill in the spaces with your smaller pebbles. If you start with the pebbles, you won’t be able to fit the big rocks.

I’ll be honest with you… it’s so easy to forget your own advice. My attention in the past week is all over the place, and I haven’t been able to get big work done. It impedes my productivity and my sense of accomplishment, both of which put me into a bad cycle.

So… try those big rocks first. Block off 90 minutes for yourself first thing in the morning. Or start with a clean Pomodoro 25.

⚫️ 1 link: Notion fails as a second brain 🔗

In the Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) world, Notion is one of the most important apps. Its powerful databases and integrations help it stand out from similar tools.

After 4-5 times of giving it a shot, I used it for several months and moved most of my notes over. But it failed as a second brain for me.

7 Reasons why Notion fails as a second brain

⚫️ 1 journal prompt: Set a spatial intention 📔

Digital, physical, or otherwise, grab your journal and choose a space you use:

  • Your at-home workspace

  • Your smartphone

  • Your meditation corner

Ask yourself these things, and do some stream-of-consciousness writing in your journal:

  • Why do I have this?

  • How am I actually using it?

  • Do these two things align?

  • How can I use it with intention moving forward?

Set your spatial intention and you’ll create healthy boundaries for yourself.
