While it's always cool to see finished pieces, it's also equally as cool to see the work in progress. Seeing how people progress on hand lettering projects can help guide you in your own endeavors and can be extremely motivating.
It's like seeing someone eat pizza and immediately wanting pizza. Except, lettering.
Here is a collection of WIP (work in progress) images that I've come across recently.
I Am A Warrior by Robert De Leon
Hook & Irons by Adam Weaver
Disco by Daniel Palacios
Hustle by Ian Barnard
Check out those handles!
Sch by Martin Schmetzer
Bath Houses of the World by Stas Do
Tonguespank by Martin Schmetzer
Do Your Thang by Eric Friedensohn
Work in Progress by Tim Bontan
Tim, or bijdevleet, is always posting amazing WIP pieces on Instagram. Definitely follow him if you aren't already.
Bridge by Amber Garner
I especially like seeing Amber's WIP's because she is so precise. And I'm not just saying that because she's my friend!
So It Goes by me
I made this a few weeks ago and forgot to ever mention it on this blog. This was a fun brush pen lettering to vector project using the pen tool in Illustrator. Looks so easy when it's at 20x speed!
I'm reading Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut... can you tell? ;)
Destroying Art by Jessica Hische
And last but not least (since I and probably everyone reading has a lettering crush on Jessica Hische) - here is a crazy sad but cool deconstructive lettering piece from Jessica's Instagram.
