If you want to save money and be eco-friendly, and you’re also a voracious reader like me, your local library is the place to go.

Library Goodness: No Spend and Nearo Waste

Welp, I've been pretty quiet lately on the blog. Have I been up to anything? Well kinda, but I've been spending a lot of time reading lately which has been AWESOME.

One of the biggest learning lessons from my no-spend month was deciding to go to the library and check out books instead of buying a $12 ebook.

Last month I finished The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson (highly recommended).

While the rest of the no-spend month wasn't exactly a win… I believe I've started a really great habit by looking to rent a book instead of simply buying it for my Kindle!

My Library Discoveries

So I love Cait Flanders' blog and when I heard she published a book, I was really excited to read it. She is most of the reason why I decided to do a no-spend month to begin with (I also was prompted by Britt from Tiny Ambitions!).

My library didn't have it in their system. Super upset.

BUT THEN my friend Jenny told me about a library app for the iOS called Hoopla. And they had Cait Flanders' book on it! (All you do is download the app and then input your library card and voilà!)

From there I checked out Down Came the Rain by Brooke Shields and Zero Waste Home by Bea Johnson. (Oh hey, I suffered from post part psychosis after I had Beans.)

Library Benefits

C'mon y’all, hop on the library wagon!

  • It's free.

  • It's nearo waste.

  • Because the book is due at a certain point, it may prompt you to read more (well, this mindset works for me!)

What have you been reading lately or what do you want to pick up soon? Headed to your local library?
